Let’s say you own an HP printer that can do multiple functions like printing, copying, etc. You would also know that there are HP printers that can scan. When you wish to perform the Scan to Network Folder function, you need to find the network path for HP scanner. With the Scan to Network Folder, the user can save the scanned image to a shared network folder from the control panel itself.

Before You Begin

Ensure that the HP scanner and the computer are connected to the same network. You must have administrative access to the HP scanner.

Here are the simplest steps to find the network path for the HP scanner.

  • Make sure that your Windows computer is turned on.
  • Click the Start button or the Windows icon.
  • Type CMD and press the Enter button.
  • Once the Command Prompt search result opens, perform a right-click and select the Run as Administrator option.
  • The Command prompt will open with admin access.
  • In the Command Prompt window, type net view and press the Enter button to find the network path for HP scanner.
  • Once again, type net view \\controlcentre and press the Enter button.
  • Once the results are out, you will see the number of printers/scanners that are hooked up to your Windows computer.
  • Choose your scanner.
  • Type \\controlcenter\HP_LaserJet_1600 (We are using the HP LaserJet 1600 printer for example).
  • Press the Enter button.
  • The Command Prompt will show you the network path for the HP scanner that is connected to your Windows computer.
