Scanning from the printer control panel

Scan To PC From Printer Control Panel
  • To scan the documents using the printer control panel, connect your computer and printer using the USB cable.
  • For accessing the scanned file on your computer, install the ScanButton Manager app. You can download it from Dell's official support page.
  • Load the original documents to be scanned into the document feeder.
  • On your printer control panel, press the Scan button. Press the down arrow button and select the Scan to Computer option.
  • Configure the scan settings just as you prefer and press the Start button.
  • Once the scan gets completed, it will be displayed on your computer's screen and saved in the location specified in the ScanButton Manager.

Scan to the computer using the TWAIN driver

  • Connect your printer and computer using the USB cable.
  • Load the document that has to be scanned into the document feeder.
  • On your computer, open the drawing software that supports TWAIN, such as PaperPort.
  • Set the destination to save the scanned documents. Click on the Desktop option and select Folders. Specify the folder to save the scanned documents.
  • To set the scanner, click on the Desktop option and select Scan Settings. From the list of available scanners, select your Dell scanner and click OK. Then, click Scan to begin the scan process.
  • Now, the printer driver will be displayed. Select your preferred scan settings, such as image type, resolution, image quality and click on the Scan button to start scanning.
  • The scanned image/document will be automatically saved in the specified location.
  • Once the scanning is over, exit the window by clicking on the Close button.

Scan to your USB memory

  • The Scan to USB memory feature enables you to store the scanned image directly to the USB memory without using any software.
  • First, you have to insert the USB device into the USB port of your printer.
  • Load the original documents to be scanned into the document feeder.
  • On your printer control panel, press the Scan button. Press the down arrow button and select the Scan to USB Memory option.
  • Press the Start button on your printer to begin the scanning process.
  • The scanned document/image will be saved in the root directory of the USB memory, and the printer will automatically generate a new file name for the scanned document/image.
  • Once done, remove the USB device from the printer.
